How to get the Voi bonus, step by step

Open our invite link on your phone
On iPhone it goes to the App Store. On Android it opens Voi or Google Play. Voi's help centre says to register using the invite link.

Install the app and create your account
Use your real details: Voi allows one account per person.

Add your own payment method
Voi's help centre says new riders get their credit straight away once they've registered through the link and added their own payment method. Voi may put a small temporary hold on your card.

Scan your licence and do the training
For e-scooters you must be 18+ with a valid driving licence, which the app asks you to scan. Voi's terms also ask you to finish the in-app training before your first ride.

Ride with your credit
Credit is used automatically on your rides. If it runs out during a ride, you pay the rest.

Who can get it
- You're new to Voi. Voi says that if you've used Voi before, you won't be eligible.
- E-scooters: you're 18 or older with a valid driving licence. E-bikes: you're 16 or older, and no licence is needed.
- You have only one Voi account.
- You add your own payment method.
Is there a Voi referral code I can type in?
Not that we could confirm. Voi's help centre describes an invite link that you open before you register. The long string at the end of our link is just the ID of our invite.
So open the link on your phone first, then install the app from there.
How much is the Voi referral credit?
Voi's current UK terms and help centre don't state an amount. Voi's UK guide says new riders get £2.50 in Voi credits and the person who invited them gets £5, but that guide dates from January 2024, so the amount may have changed.
The credit you get is shown in the app as soon as you sign up, so you'll know straight away.
How much does a Voi ride cost in the UK?
You pay to unlock, then per minute, and Voi rounds ride time up to the next full minute. On 29 September 2026, Voi's city pages showed London at no unlock fee and 27p a minute, Oxford at £1 plus 24p a minute, and Edinburgh at 49p plus 11p a minute.
Regular riders can buy a Voi Pass. Prices vary by town, so check the app. Ride credit can't be used on a pass.
Voi's rules for riding in the UK
One person per vehicle, with a 100 kg maximum. Ride in cycle lanes where possible, stay off pavements and wear a helmet for the best protection.
Take a photo when you park. Many UK towns only allow parking in racks and areas marked on the app map, and breaking Voi's rules can cost £25. Voi's UK terms also say it doesn't provide third-party liability insurance for e-bike rides.
Didn't get your bonus? Common reasons
I didn't get my ride credit
Check you signed up through the link, are new to Voi and added your own payment method. Then contact Voi through Help in the app.
My credit wasn't used
Credit can't be used on rides with a Voi Pass or for Group Ride guests.
I see a pending payment from Voi
It's a temporary hold on your card. Voi says your bank can take 1–7 business days to release it.
The app wants my driving licence
UK e-scooters need a valid driving licence. Voi e-bikes don't.
